Family Therapy

Tacit Knowlege works with families using a process that includes a mix of individual sessions and whole family group sessions. Tacit provides Family Counselling in both in-person and virtual (online) session formats.  In these sessions, our therapists create an atmosphere of safety for all of the family members, empathizing with their situation and helping the clients connect more to their own awareness and needs.  By using a variety of therapeutic modalities, our therapists can provide tools/strategies to support the family in a way that fits well with the personalities and lifestyle needs involved.  The format for Family Counselling is as follows:  the family will meet with their therapist together, for the initial Intake session (50 minute session).  Each family member will then meet with the therapist individually (50 minute sessions for each).  And then the family will come together and see the therapist together (usually 70 minute sessions), moving forward.  At times, the therapist and an individual family member might decide that there is a specific need that requires additional support, and individual counselling for that family member might also be arranged.  This decision will be shared with the rest of the family, but the issues addressed in the individual therapy will not be made a part of the family sessions unless that individual family member wishes to do so.
