Addressing Core Needs

Understanding why people behave the way they do is a key determining element in knowing how to effectively meet our own needs. Based on the work of Rudolf Dreikurs, this Addressing Core Needs Training session helps participants identify the 4 basic needs that produce unwanted and unhelpful (sometimes annoying) behaviours. And it delves into the 4 key foundational needs that must be in balance within a person, every day, if they hope to be able to effectively function in a successful way (mentally, emotionally and physically). Using the reactions that bothersome behaviours often trigger in others as guiding principles, this session also helps participants reframe their response so interactions can be more appropriately focused and purposeful, thereby helping resolve the situation successfully and with less stress/frustration for everyone.
This is a closed Training for the George Spady Society Medically Supported Detox Team – facilitated by Kim Silverthorn BA, RPC, MPCC, CT. Kim has over 34 years of experience as a therapist, and often works with families/agencies who are trying to improve their support skills and effectively address the stress that exists in their lives.
