Building Therapeutic Relationships

Building Therapeutic Relationships with the clients that we serve is an essential part of being an ethical and successful professional. There are stages that our relationships with clients must go through, so that a healthy level of trust and empowerment can develop. Our boundaries and ethical practices when working with vulnerable clients play a key role in helping us know how to support clients as they take control of their own needs and life choices. And we must understand the intricacies of holding space, communicating effectively and working “with” another person, if we truly hope to make a difference and not burnout.
This is a closed Training for the George Spady Society Medically Supported Detox Team – facilitated by Kim Silverthorn BA, RPC, MPCC, CT. Kim has over 34 years of experience as a therapist, and often works with families/agencies who are trying to improve their support skills and effectively address the stress that exists in their lives.
