De-Escalating Tense Interaction with the Public
April 17 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
When working with the general public is part of an organization’s mandate, the relationships that are created can sometimes be challenging. When the public’s perspective of their own wants and needs are not aligned with the task requirements of the organization, interactions between a citizen and a staff member can become heated, tense and even turn abusive in nature. This puts a strain on everyone who is involved – the public and the staff alike. And de-escalating these tense interactions with the public becomes a necessary skill to know how to implement.
On April 16th and 17th; June 12th and 13th; and September 17th and 18th – Kim Silverthorn BA, RPC, MPCC, CT is facilitating the “De-Escalating Tense Interactions with the Public” PD session with the City of Beaumont staff, in Beaumont. This is a closed Training. Kim has over 30 years of experience as a therapist, and often works with organizations who are trying to effectively work in cooperation with the general public, in various capacities.
This session helps participants build a pattern of response within themselves that reflect their own intentions and work values. It teaches skills that are essential for understanding and soothing heightened emotional interactions between people. It also introduces participants to the key dynamics involved in building positive interactions with others in a way that will enhance relationships, work productivity and personal confidence.
