Mental Wellness Book Club

Mental Wellness Book Club

Tacit Knowledge is excited to present our first ever Mental Wellness Book Club Program.  Book Therapy (also known as Bibliotherapy) is a type of counselling that focuses on leveraging the power of stories to heal.  Individuals come together to read and discuss the highlights from a book chosen specifically to bring them hope and comfort, especially as a balance to a life that can sometimes seem quite challenging.

Join us every Tuesday evening at 6:30pm, from September 12th to October 10th, inclusive.  This 5-week Program is offered via Zoom and is a terrific opportunity for participants to come together and find creative ideas and strategies that promote a healthy well-being.

The first book we have selected to read for our Mental Wellness Book Club Program is The Comfort Book – by Matt Haig.  This book has been written “for anyone in search of hope, looking for a path to a more meaningful life, or in need of a little encouragement.” (Goodreads).  It has been used by therapists as a Bibliotherapy resource for people struggling with depression, or who are feeling a little lost or defeated in their life.

The book we have selected is already broken into 4 parts – one segment will be addressed in each of the first 4 sessions of the Program. Participants are encouraged to pre-read the appropriate segment on their own, before each meeting.  (But don’t worry if you fall behind in your reading – we will be enjoying selected excerpts from the bock together, in each meeting, and our discussions will focus on these parts especially.)  The 5th and final week of the Program will be dedicated to an overall review/discussion of the book as a whole, and for the provision of additional therapeutic strategies/exercises that the participants can continue to use independently, after the Program has ended.

Everyone is welcome to join us for this Program – you DO NOT have to be a resident of Beaumont to attend.  You can participate for all of some of the sessions, as you are able.

There is a small registration fee for this 5 week Mental Wellness Book Club Program – $50.00 plus GST (total cost is $52.50).  Participants can etransfer this payment to Tacit, and then their spot will be reserved.  Spaces are limited – there are only 10 seats available in each of Tacit’s Group Bibliotherapy Programs.
